Hi,

My rat (Brian) used to be really friendly and run around my front room, stealing things and generally being a caracter. I have recently returned from a 7 month trip abroad in which time I left him with my parents. In the time I was away, which continues now, he is a recluse, he barely ever comes out his house (except when he smells something good). He doesn't want to play any more and he poops and pees outside the cage which he NEVER used to do before. He also squeeks lots when i pick him up.

He is quite old, i have had him for about 2 years now. he is also a big rat (the vet assure me he's not over weight but im not so sure - 568g last time i weighed him) However he has always been big so i really dont think thats the problem.

Please help me, i miss the old him so much. Its the outside of cage toiletery habits that are the worst.

Any suggestions would be welcome.
